Gesher provides opportunities for young Jewish teenagers with minimal affiliation to Judaism and Israel, to experience the unique rich qualities of the vibrant Gateshead Jewish Community over a Shabbos weekend. The groups, on average 20 students, generally stay over from Thursday afternoon till Sunday morning. Gesher welcomes each student in their last 4 years of high school to participate in our weekend seminars, 2 –3 times a year. Our aims:

– To enable Jewish youth of today to appreciate that Judaism can relate to them too and is no contradiction to the 21st century we live in.

– To instil within them a positive feeling towards Israel which will in turn encourage them to spend their gap year in Israel.
