Participants enjoy 1 to 1 Torah study sessions with students from the Gateshead Yeshiva and the Gateshead Seminary. The teenagers are able learn and appreciate the exciting dynamics of Torah learning and gain an insight into the life of their religious peer group.
They will also share many Shabbat experiences together with their study partners such as an Oneg Shabbos and a Seuda Shelishis. This enables them to develop bonds of friendship. On subsequent visits they will usually study with the same partners again, thereby strengthening their relationship on each programme.
Shabbat meals with local families – this provides a glimpse into the beauty of the religious Jewish home and an insight into the qualities of a close-knit, warm, Torah-true community.
Gesher also includes in its programmes a visit to Gateshead’s world famous Yeshiva and Seminary.
Participants will have informal discussions groups where they explore moral and ethical issues relevant to them and their lives. These sessions that are given by the Gesher staff are delivered in a relaxed, interactive and non-judgmental environment.
The students enjoy a variety of recreational activities, in which they have a chance to bond with all members of staff in a friendly and informal manner.
